Space Reproduction in Urban China: Toward a Theoretical Framework of Urban Regeneration

As China’s urbanization enters the middle and late stages, urban regeneration has risen to strategic level of building a new national development pattern promoting high-quality development. Due wide range disciplines content involved in regeneration, there remains lack systematic comprehensive theories frameworks lay theoretical foundation for academic research provide guidance renewal practice. Therefore, this paper aims construct framework from perspective space reproduction, by employing theory production as basis interdisciplinary research, integrating related research. The current proposes that includes four core elements, namely government, market, society reproduction. Subsequently, summarizes subject, power, capital interest three types stakeholders (government, society), their different emphases reproduction mechanism, various cooperative modes practices. Meanwhile, under concept sustainable “people-oriented” approach, emphasizes importance social factors suitability multi-stakeholder co-governance model market society.
